I created SWAY to help people make better decisions.
After decades in the classroom, I understand the pressure teachers face: keeping students engaged, integrating new technology, meeting curriculum goals, and still finding time to breathe. That’s why I built SWAY — a teacher-tested system to make your job not just manageable, but inspiring.
SWAY is short for a SMART WAY to Learn, Earn, and Play — it's about HOW to learn, not what to learn. SWAY is built on three pillars:
the WAY Game — a process to transform daily lessons into skill development, self-awareness and developing relationships through lifelong learning practices, fun and games.
AI-Powered Digital Lesson Planning — Use SMART Notebook software Templates to create, preserve and share lesson plans.
Entrepreneurial Project-Based Learning — Today's students need to learn basic business skills and practice them, participating in running a small business or putting on a show.
SWAY 'tools' work together to create classroom routines that are holistic in nature, develop higher-order thinking skills and are inclusive. Students are engaged in projects that generate funds for classroom supplies and Way Game Prizes. There is also a plan to help teachers with out-of-pocket expenses.
This isn’t theory. It’s field-tested. The results are in. Students are more motivated. Teachers feel supported. Parents are involved. It’s working — and it’s ready for you to use, adapt, and make your own. It's also free and available to families 24/7.
If we don’t teach our students how to learn with AI, they’ll be left behind. And if we don’t give teachers practical tools to thrive in this new era, we risk losing their joy, energy and career. Too many teachers are quitting; don't be one of them.

Become a SWAY Consultant on Your Own
Consultants are individuals who are passionate about teaching and learning, and they view this site as a means to address the problems that classroom teachers, students, and their parents encounter in school. They are self-directed learners who have studied this site and offer SWAY goods and services that they choose to deliver.
My role is to simplify the delivery of SWAY resources, making it easier for consultants to follow. I want Consultants to share ownership in this site, to move forward as if they had created SWAY - to help it grow in yet undefined ways. Training is free, self-directed, and available to all.
AI is a game changer when it comes to teaching and learning, but it will never replace good teachers, whose role is no longer that of a sage on the stage, but rather a facilitator of projects, teamwork, and games.
Moving forward, my Blog posts and YouTube Videos will assist in the challenging process of change and innovation in schools.

How to Become a SWAY Consultant
To begin, you must learn about SWAY and use a CAP Notebook to summarize and demonstrate your learning, make Game Cards, play the WAY Game with friends, fill in Pathfinder, and make master copies of resources students will use. Prepare yourself to present and sell the goods and services that you define. Consultants "Pass the Play", they share SWAY ideas, tools and techniques that can transform learning overnight. It's all about giving students responsibilities and providing them with something practical and essential to do. It's all based on Entrepreneurial Project-Based Learning, teamwork and games.
My role as the creator of SWAY is to recruit and help train SWAY Consultants. To learn to use AI in lesson planning and project-based learning, to help improve the way teachers teach and students learn.
If we want innovation in education to spread, we need self-directed tools with practical outcomes that encourage student engagement. Here, you'll find tools, templates, and real-life stories that demonstrate how SWAY works in schools and communities. My goal? To make SWAY so user-friendly that you won't need me.
